Twenty Four

Twenty Four. The MVP wears it. Twenty Four. The Lakers led by that much during game 4. Twenty Four. I cursed at my TV at least twenty four times during the 3rd and 4th quarters.

As a Laker fan this has been one of the most devastating losses I’ve ever witnessed. It is hard to believe even the strong willed Kobe Bryant can recover from tonight’s disaster. It’s over and the Celtics will win the NBA Championship. As hard as it is for me to say it they deserve it. Their defense is remarkable and they fought and clawed to get where they are today. Yeah, I’m complimenting them. Don’t get used to it.

Last week I watched Game 1 with my friend Drew and his friend Ian. After the loss Ian said something like, “I wish sports games didn’t affect me as much as they do.” I felt exactly the same way. Yeah, I’m really passionate about the Lakers but when they lose it gets me really really down.

There’s been a few events that happened recently in my life that puts things in perspective though. The Lakers losing to the Celtics is least among them. Yeah it sucks the Lakers lost to the Celtics after a fantastic journey to the Finals but I’ve got a lot more important aspects in my life that I need to put more of my heart into.

Hi Jon! Just ran across your blog from your facebook page. Pretty cool stuff so far. Looking forward to your other posts. Totally agree with you on the Lakers. I hate it! But I have to accept it. :-(
